Biography:
Started collecting hip hop on vinyl at
the age of 12 whilst living in Adelaide. I didn’t
get my turntables till I was about 20 years old
and for a couple of years I was a bedroom DJ.
I went overseas for a few years (through the USA,
Canada & Asia) and was absolutely blown away
with the dance movement. Even though I wasn’t
Djing at the time the experience and journey inspired
me to immerse myself into the dance culture.
When I came back to Australia
I moved to Cairns and began DJing in mid `99.
A friend asked me to play at the Millennium
bar to fill in one night. Even though I had
never DJ’d with dance music prior to this
occasion I was thrown right in the DEEP end
- I guess they liked my stuff as I held the
residency at the club for 18 months.
Being a part of and resident
at Taste is what really kicked things off for
me, playing alongside other DJ’s and getting
affiliated with the far north’s party
crew. This inspired me to be the DJ I am now
today.
Since then I have gone
on to DJ at many parties both indoor and outdoor,
playing my sexy, deep, dubby, funky, progressive
tech-house and breaks. I have supported Australia’s
finest DJ’s and producers including Phil
K, Gab Oliver, Kid Kenobi, Sean Quinn, Sharif
Galal, Mark Dynamix, Nik Fish, Amber Savage,
Bexta, Sgt. Slick, Paul Holden, Sveta, Ollie
Wisdom, Pee Wee Ferris, Nick Dem Q and from
overseas Freq Nasty, Chris Fortier, B.L.I.M.,
Medicine Drum, Tsuyoshi Suzuki and Prince Quick
Mix.
In Cairns and surrounding
areas the events I have performed at include
Ministry of Sound, Global Underground, Dreamscape`s
1, 2 & 3, Earthdance `02 & `03, northernbeats.com
launch, Bass Odyssey and the Bamboo label launch.
Venues include all of the major clubs and bars
of Cairns, in Townsville at The Embassy, Port
Douglas @ Fluid, Mezz Bar and Danny`s and in
Adelaide they are Traffic, Minke Bar and the
Soda Room.
In late 2002 I won a
national mix competition through the compilation
"If It aint Broken, Don’t Fix It".
A breakbeat compilation released by AKA from
Melbourne featuring Australian produced breaks
with the best mix sent in being released, my
mix won so it has been released on CD in June
2003 and is called "If It Ain`t Broken,
Don’t Fix It-Too! To cap off a big year,
I won an award for "Industry Achievement
for 2003" as voted by peers and public
at the inaugaral Elec:tropica awards held in
Cairns for my achievements with winning the
mix competition, appearing on Triple J and for
general hard work for the scene.
I have also had the opportunity
to host my own radio show on TRIP FM (Port Douglas)
and have been a special guest on rhythm FM Sydney
and I played on Triple J`s "Mix Up"
to a national audience in May 2003 and on "Groove
Train" in September `03.
The future looks bright,
with my Deep North, The Embassy and Taste-y
residencies growing stronger and the release
of my mix cd "If It Ain`t Broken, Don’t
Fix It-Too!". Also my aspirations with
music production and my position as the music
director in the vinyl / cd department at Taste-y
Productions with Josie, pushing quality dance
music to Cairns and surrounding areas.
