Biography:
Self anointed neo-soul enthusiast determined
to introduce the masses to the new class of independent
artists of soulful genre!
DJ Come of Age graced
the masses with his initial public offering
entitled "Tish". It represented the
best in soulful RnB and fused elements of downtempo.
DJ Come of Age hails from Florida and routinely
networks with his Consortium members in France.
An up and coming DJ, he is also noted for his
gifted expression as a reviewer and longtime
supporter of
independent artists and musicians.
DJ Come of Age loves
life! His motto is this: "I compete with
no one so I am able to learn from anyone. My
impetus, my drive to get the most out of life
comes from within!" A big fan of house
music, he listens to many genres. Rap, soul,
jazz, drum n' bass. "My influences are
many. I began to fall in love with music at
a young age. As a child I had trouble sleeping
at nite. My mother bought a shortwave radio
and placed it under my pillow. I began to hear
music from all over the world. I credit that
with the ear I have for music now. There are
so many wonderful artists out there and not
all of them have big record deals!"
Initial Public Offering
is the result of wanting to bring the sound
of house music to the far corners of America.
"While living in small towns I began to
realize that people listened and bought only
what they heard on the radio or saw on the television.
If MTV or BET didn't play it, no one bought
it. But everytime I would play something new
it would catch on. It became evident to me that
there was a huge gap still in the marketing
of music. I wanted to bring the "underground"
to the forefront so i mixed IPO. The response
has been great and I am staging the release
of my next volume in April 2003! The style of
my music is jazzy, mellow instrumentals for
a continuous dance party!"
So what artists are in
my crates right now? Definitely Ms. Jill Scott!
I love her to death. I play the new Jazzy Jeff
cd and I have Jazzanova's "In Between".
Also, on the independent side of things Julie
Dexter will be one for the ages in the near
future and peace out to Seek on their "Surrender"
cd. Listening to them reminds me of the first
time I heard Loose Ends or Soul II Soul or the
melody of 52nd Street in the early eighties.
Since IPO I have completed an old school Rn'B
mix that features Tom Browne, Loose Ends, Aretha
Franklin, The Whispers, Club Nouveau, Timex
Social Club, and more. It is called "Jazmin
and Brown Sugar" and was inspired by one
of my dearest friends. In April, my jazz mix
as well as my new house mix will both be released.
Thank you all for your support and let's continue
to support independent artists!!!
